Why We Built This Site
West Virginia provides several official ways to obtain criminal-record information, but no single source holds every layer. The Webster County Sheriff keeps the reports its deputies create, while the Circuit Clerk holds felony case papers and Magistrate Court keeps misdemeanors and early felony proceedings. Because Webster County has no county jail, booking and custody searches run through the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation and Central Regional Jail in Sutton. A fingerprint-based personal history review belongs with the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, and registry searches use the West Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry. We bring those separate official routes and their practical limits together.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: where to reach the Webster County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Magistrate Court, and state record systems
- Official check instructions: how a person requests a fingerprint-based review of their own record from the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau
- Record guides: how to locate and read Webster County criminal court cases
- Record relief information: where West Virginia expungement petitions are filed and which official law controls the process
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not part of any West Virginia court, sheriff's office, police department, or state agency. Those boundaries mean we cannot perform official government functions:
- We cannot issue certified court documents, rap sheets, or other official criminal records
- We cannot submit a West Virginia FOIA request, expungement petition, or other filing for you
- We cannot retrieve another person's record or conduct an official background check
- We cannot provide legal advice about a charge, warrant, case, or expungement
- We cannot promise that a published address, fee, telephone number, or procedure has not changed
An official record must come from its custodian, such as the Webster County court, the arresting agency, WVDCR, or the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau. This site can identify a source, but it cannot issue the document.
Search Partners
Third-party companies power search boxes shown on some pages. Those providers control their services, results, and prices. If a visitor follows one of those tools and purchases a service, this site may receive a referral fee that supports free access to the reference material. We do not set a partner's charges, choose its results, or guarantee the information it returns.
